Day of Hatred

Today in Cambodia, they are celebrating National Day of Remembrance which was previously known as National Hatred Day, and while I understand the sentiment behind it regarding the Khmer Rouge’s genocide and social atrocities, it was such a negative Holiday name. Imagine waking up in the morning to a day of hatred…

I swear I will not dishonour my soul with hatred, but offer myself humbly as a guardian of nature, as a healer of misery, as a messenger of wonder, as an architect of peace… From the poem  School Prayer ~Diane Ackerman~

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars. ~Khalil Gibran~
